I want to take a Community Cooking Class with another person but do not understand if we need to buy two spots for the class?

The $75 cost for a Community Class covers one device (laptop, phone, etc) meaning you can cook alongside as many people as you want from the same kitchen. Should you want to take a class with someone in another house, you would need to purchase two spots for class.

I purchased a Community Class, but have not received a registration email. Where could it be?

You will receive an automatic registration email with details on how to prepare for and join your class.

The registration email sent from our system may have ended up in your junk or spam mailboxes, so please search your inbox for "info@motherlandculturalconnections.com".

How long are cooking classes?

Community Cooking Classes are 60 to 90 minutes long depending on the recipe. Private group cooking classes last about 90 minutes.

How much do cooking classes cost?

Community Cooking Classes cost $75 per screen. The pricing for our private group cooking classes varies depending on the cooking event chosen.

Are there online cooking basic classes?

Our Community Cooking Classes and private group cooking classes are great for beginners as well as experienced home chefs. The host and chef will keep an eye on participants to make sure everything is going smoothly and no question goes unanswered.

INGREDIENTS

Can I substitute ingredients in a recipe to fit my dietary preferences?

The recipes from our chefs are about as authentic as you can get! However, we encourage improvising ingredients based on availability and dietary preferences. General substitutions are listed on individual event pages under "Ingredients & Preparation".

Here are common substitutions specifically to make a recipe Gluten-Free:

I don't have all the ingredients, can I still take a cooking class?

If you don’t have all the ingredients, it is possible to improvise ingredients based on availability and dietary preferences. Remember to take advantage of the live aspect of our classes and ask your chef about making substitutions or omitting certain ingredients!

If you’re interested in a private cooking class and don’t want to worry about gathering your own ingredients, check out our AIO Recipe Kits and have ingredient kits shipped directly to your group.

TOOLS

What kind of tools do I need for class?

All our classes have the tools and equipment listed on the event page. All recipes assume you have access to commonly used kitchen tools.

In the event that you do not have the specialty tools, improvise with what you have on hand in your kitchen, or ask the chef about a substitute tool during class.

Should I use metric or imperial measurements?

We like to share the original recipe of our chefs who live in countries which use the metric system. However, our recipes are given primarily in the imperial system.

Can I reschedule or cancel a Community Cooking Class that I have already booked?

Upon registration of a class, payments are non-refundable.

  • A registrant must notify MCX of a reschedule or change requests at least 48 hours before the scheduled class. A registrant can reschedule to another class within 30 days subject to availability. Please contact us at info@motherlandculturalconnections.com to check availability.

  • If a registrant notifies MCX of a request to change, reschedule, or cancel a class within 48 hours of a class start time, or is a no-show for the class, the registrant does not qualify for a reschedule or refund.

  • In the event of a cancellation of a class by MCX, we will contact individuals who are registered and participants can choose to reschedule to another class or receive a full refund, which will be returned to the original payment method.

What if the cost of a class is less than my gift card value?

If your order total is less than the gift card value, you can complete checkout as normal. The amount applied and remaining value displays in the gray box and in the order receipt. You will then use your gift card code again in the future to finish your remaining balance.

I have a gift card, but I want to buy two classes at once. Is this possible in one transaction?

Yes, gift cards apply to the order total, including tax, shipping, and any transaction fees. If the order total exceeds the gift card value, you'll pay the remaining amount using a supported payment method or another gift card.
